Making Games with Rough Science is a two-day workshop (7, 8 April) encouraging students to make their own digital games. During the two days, students will learn the basics of:
o Designing games;
o Sourcing and make art for games; and
o Basic coding for games.
Intended for participants in year 4 to year 9.

The workshop is supported by the Victorian Space Science Education Centre, and will be taking place at their premises in Strathmore.
A special third day (9 April) has been added that will explore the basics of cryptography. In this day session, participants will discover:
o How to hide messages in plain sight;
o An introduction to programming in Python;

This session is intended for secondary school aged students.

You have the choice of either the One Day Introduction, or the Full Workshop.
Participants in the One Day Introduction with attend only the first day of the Full Workshop. This one day gives an simple overview of the game programming environment that Making Games with Rough Science will be using.
The Full Workshop goes for two days, and will cover the introduction to the game programming environment, as well as get into more indepth game making options, looking at game design and art making.
Both programs include a USB stick to take home any completed work, as well as instructions on how to set up the programming environment at home to keep crafting your game.
The Cryptography Workshop can be booked sparately or in conjunction with either the One Day or Full game making workshops. In this one day workshop, participants will get an introduction to the concepts of cryptography, as well as the basics of the Python programming language. Participants will receive an overall discount if booking for all workshops.
